Bing adds a topic view to AI search: turn the signal into a useful next step
A new search report is most useful when it helps you choose what to improve next. Bing’s Topics Portfolio gives website owners another way to look at that decision.
What changed on 13 October
Microsoft announced Topics Portfolio, a beta inside the AI Performance report in Bing Webmaster Tools. It groups grounding queries into topics and highlights queries where other sites appear but yours does not. Availability depends on sufficient data for your site.
Microsoft describes its counts and classifications as approximate. Use them as planning signals: a topic opportunity is not proof that publishing a page will bring customers.
Our take: choose the question before the page
For a small business, a useful starting point is one customer question that matters to an existing product. Compare it with what your website already explains. Does the page answer the question directly? Does it give enough detail to help someone make a decision?
Suppose you sell replacement filters. A relevant page might explain compatibility, replacement intervals and how to identify the right model. An unrelated high-volume topic is less useful than a clear answer to a real purchasing question. This is an illustrative example, not a measured customer result.
Keep the topic and page decision together
Record the customer question suggested by the topic, the existing page you will review and the reporting period you will use afterwards. Check the question against your actual product range before creating a new page. The page-prioritization guide helps turn that note into a focused review.
Bing’s Topics Portfolio is a separate tool; this article does not imply that Aiomize imports that report.
A practical next step
Choose one relevant topic, record the page you will improve and write down the customer question it should answer. After the change, compare the same page over a consistent period. Keep visibility, visits and actual enquiries separate so an encouraging chart does not get mistaken for a sale.
